Your property is damaged? What’s next?

Before your adjuster arrives at your property, it is crucial that you documenting EVERYTHING. Doing this will help protect yourself, give your adjuster more clarity, and help us repair your property back to the way it was!

1. Wide-Angle Photos of the Entire Area

Take wide shots of each room or exterior area that’s affected. This helps show the full scope of the damage in context.

2. Close-Up Photos of Specific Damage

Zoom in on:

  • Cracks, dents, or breaks in materials (drywall, siding, roofing, etc.)

  • Water stains or mold

  • Burn marks or smoke damage

  • Broken windows or doors

3. Damage to Personal Property

Take individual photos of any furniture, electronics, appliances, or valuables that were damaged — from multiple angles if possible.

4. Structural Damage

Look for and document:

  • Sagging ceilings or beams

  • Roof or siding damage

  • Broken rafters or framing

  • Exposed insulation or wiring

5. Flooring and Wall Damage

  • Wet or warped flooring

  • Torn carpet or vinyl

  • Damaged tile or hardwood

  • Peeling paint, bubbles, or cracks in walls

6. Utility Damage

Capture damage to:

  • Electrical panels, outlets, or wiring

  • Plumbing fixtures and visible pipe leaks

  • HVAC units or ductwork

  • Water heaters or sump pumps

7. Temporary Repairs

If you make emergency fixes (like tarping a roof or boarding up a window), take photos before and after the temporary repair.

8. The Source of the Damage (If Known)

  • Burst pipe, leaking appliance, fallen tree, etc.

  • Storm-related damage (hail, wind, lightning, flooding)

  • Fire origin or smoke source

  • Anything that shows how the damage occurred

9. A Written Inventory

Create a detailed list of:

  • Damaged items

  • Their estimated value

  • Purchase dates (if known)

  • Receipts or warranty info if available

10. Videos for Walkthroughs

Do a slow walk-through video of all damaged areas to help show scale and continuity. Narrate as you go to describe what you’re seeing.
